Purple Heart Burial Service
Chapter 1836 Volunteers attend services and perform “pallbearer” duties, if requested.

Military Funeral Honors
The Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Memorial Service Detachment (MSD) is available
Monday through Friday to provide military funeral honors for veterans. MSD teams
are volunteers. They complement the services provided by the Department of Defense.
They ensure that all veterans are provided the rifle salute and taps. All military
funeral honors performed by the MSD are provided at no cost to the family. Contact
the cemetery office for scheduling information for the MSD.
The Warrior and Family Support Center (WFSC) was build with 100% donations by the
American people. The center serves the warriors of the Iraq and Afghanistan Operations
recouping from injuries of the war. The center has every thing imaginable from large
screen TVs, videos, computer room, snacks, drinks , rest areas and lots more. All
snacks and drinks are donated.
The center is located off Binz Engleman Rd. just pass the guard house on your left.

The Alamo Chapter 1836 volunteers man the desk, make coffee and make snacks available
to the troops on Mondays from 7 to 5. Volunteers: Tony Baker, Wayne Lund, Walter
Chadwick and Howard T. Ray.
The Coffee Cart Program

The program provides for early morning refreshments (coffee, donuts, and fruit)
to the veterans and their dependents as they spend the morning at North Central Federal
Clinic (NCFC) and Frank Tejeda Outpatient Clinic (FTOC) as medical personnel care
for their needs.

Viola Fund Raising Events
Viola sales are periodically scheduled to bring funds into the Alamo Chapter 1836
general fund. These donations allow the chapter to continue its efforts in supporting
Purple Heart recipients and their families and to persevere in our mission to foster
an environment of goodwill and camaraderie among combat wounded veterans. With support
of our Senate and Congressional representatives we are committed in promoting legislative
initiatives to provide adequate health and welfare services to all our veterans and
their families.
The National Service Officers advise and assist the veterans and their dependents
in the technical preparation of their claims for benefits from any governmental agency,
and in securing suitable employment.
They also, advise and assist veterans, their dependents and survivors in the preparation
and submission of claims for benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. More
